Germany's cartel office is looking into the
distribution of tickets for the nation's Euro 2016 games after only
official fan club members were allowed to order tickets in a first
sales phase.
The office Tuesday confirmed it has started proceedings, but it
appears that the German football federation DFB will be not be
sanctioned but rather prompted to change its sales regulations.
Fans applying for tickets for Germany games at the June 10-July 10
tournament in France had to become a fan club member for which an
additional fee is required which could constitute exploitation.
The DFB stated security reasons for its sales policy and also said it
was a bonus for fan club members who frequently travel with the team.
Such a measure is also practiced in England and France but the cartel
office said that 13 of the 24 participating federations had only
required information on citizenship and residency for ticket sales.
