 Villarreal's Brazilian forward Leo Baptistao celebrates after scoring campaign to challenge Real Madrid for third place in the Spanish Liga, being held 0-0 at Celta Vigo. Villarreal dominated play at sixth-placed Vigo but failed to break down a solid local defence that was well marshalled by Gustavo Cabral. The draw left the Yellows in fourth place, one point behind a Real Madrid side that was due to visit bottom team Levante later on. Villarreal are nine points above fifth-placed Sevilla, who edged Eibar 1-0 on an early goal from veteran Fernando Llorente. Sevilla are two points above Celta and three above seventh-placed Athletic Bilbao, who trounced Deportivo La Coruna 4-1 with a hat-trick from the ageless Aritz Aduriz after Iker Muniain had given them the lead. Also Wednesday, Valencia continued their revival with a rather fortunate 2-1 win at Malaga. Duje Cop gave Malaga an early lead but a bizarre own goal from Malaga keeper Carlos Kameni put Valencia level, then Denis Cheryshev hit the winner for the visitors.
