The world swimming governing body FINA is to review the decision not to ban two Chinese swimmers for failed doping tests, it said Wednesday. Wang Lizhuo and An Jiabao were warned by the Chinese Swimming Association (CSA) after testing positive for clenbuterol but have escaped further sanction until now. "FINA has received the decisions issued on these two athletes, and is currently reviewing them," it said in a statement. It also added that the Chinese National Anti-Doping Agency "is presently conducting the results management process, and that a decision is still to come." Neither swimmer has yet participated at a world championship or Olympics. Last week Britain's Times newspaper alleged that five positive doping tests from 2015-2016 had been covered up, something denied by the Chinese. However, there is a history of lenient treatment of swimmers who have failed doping tests in China with Olympic champion Sun Yang returning from a secret three-month ban imposed in 2014 to win the 800-metre freestyle at the 2015 world championships. | |||||
